About
Max Dunn, President
Max Dunn has been programming typographical output for over 15 years. In 2000, after 4 years directing programming at Bertelsmann Industry Services, Max founded Silicon Publishing, a development company specializing in document generation and dynamic web site automation.
In 2007 Silicon Publishing spun off the Silicon Interactive division, focused on Web development and marketing services. You can learn more about Silicon Interactive at http://www.siliconinteractive.com.
Silicon Publishing has done a wide range of projects related to Adobe FrameMaker, including projects for Adobe itself, such as helping integrate DITA with the product. Max had the honor of co-writing the Adobe-sponsored chapter of the XML Handbook with the inventor of SGML himself, Charles Goldfarb. This was appropriately entitled "WYSIWYG XML Authoring" which relates both to Silicon Publishing work with FrameMaker and Silicon Interactive's web-based efforts to offer analogous features to interactive environments, using technologies including AIR, InDesign Server, Flash and XHTML.
Max was named an Adobe Community Expert based on his FrameMaker work, but he is also an expert at InDesign automation, which Silicon Publishing has been doing since the inception of the desktop product. Silicon Publishing is an InDesign Server reseller, training provider, and solution provider.
Max has spoken at numerous conferences, including:
- The Adobe MAX Conference
- The Adobe Partners In Publishing Conference
- DITA 2007
- The Silicon Valley DITA Interest Group
- The Gilbane Content Management Technologies Conference
Presentation topics have ranged from InDesign Automation to managing eLearning content in DITA using Flash and FrameMaker.
