Veeva Vault PromoMats meets the Adobe Creative Cloud
We recently presented a webinar demonstrating our Silicon Connector for Veeva Vault PromoMats. The recording is here:
Over the past two decades, we've connected Adobe's desktop applications to numerous systems. PromoMats generally serves the Life Sciences, which is a world in which regulatory compliance is critical. This presents a use case in which such an integration can really provide value.
Veeva Vault PromoMats
Veeva Vault PromoMats supports the creation, approval and distribution of all commercial content for Life Sciences. Through providing a single unified platform for managing the entire content journey including the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review coupled with enterprise DAM, Vault PromoMats ensures efficient and compliant content re-use at speed.
Through managing the broader, end-to-end process and with native integration to sales channels for either remote or face-to-face customer engagement with Veeva CRM, Veeva provides a unique set of insights that allows Life Sciences organizations to constantly improve their internal processes and deliver more intelligent customer engagement.
Why Silicon Connector?
A major theme in content management, and one quite critical for regulatory compliance, is the notion of a “single source of truth.” In too many organizations, creatives are challenged by a plethora of assets, as there are typically requirements for multiple renditions of a single asset (for different output formats/targets). A system like Veeva Vault PromoMats goes a long way to facilitating management and re-use, by offering a centralized DAM with robust capability for renditions, revisions, and metadata (including, critically, identification of currently approved content).
However, when authors and designers toggle between such a platform and Adobe creative applications, they are often left to their own devices as to how to bridge the chasm between the two systems. The typical workflow is to download files to their local or network drive, then work with creative tools un-connected to the system of record (In this case, Veeva Vault PromoMats). This fosters potential confusion, and opens a door to the spread of redundant assets.
Silicon Connector saves the day by using assets by reference, instead of allowing users to create unnecessary copies. Connector lets you see your Vault assets within the Adobe desktop design tools. When you drag an asset onto an InDesign document from Silicon Connector, it instantiates a URL-based pointer to that asset in Veeva Vault PromoMats.
This technology eliminates the need for designers to devise their own workflows for connecting InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. to Veeva Vault PromoMats. They can use PromoMats to identify assets approved for a project, and then use Adobe tools to create content that references these assets. When an asset needs to be updated, a user can open it in Illustrator or Photoshop directly, then when the modified asset is saved back to PromotMats, InDesign users are automatically notified.
Key principles: modularity and extensibility
As Ole points out in the webinar, we are able to make workflows efficient, thanks to two things:
- The powerful APIs of Veeva Vault PromoMats.
- The incredible extensibility of Adobe InDesign.
This is the age of modularity and extensibility. When we build Connectors, we identify the right points of interface, enabling designers to work most effectively.
With PromoMats, the system offers awesome functionality for reviewing and approving content, as well as for selecting approved content for a creative effort. Our Connector can then simply load the "cart" (or query by some other rule) to give designers direct access to the assets they'll use in their creative work.
Going even further: online editing
Connector is ready for use now, and solves the challenge of connectivity between InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator (so far) and Veeva Vault PromoMats. You can download the latest trial here. We're also happy to provide a consultation to discuss your specific workflow.
While Connector streamlines workflows around InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe technologies, our Silicon Designer product may also be relevant. Designer offers a web-based interface to edit these documents. Over time, we will be providing PromoMats users more and more control over their content, in harmony with the trajectory of Adobe's fantastic technology. Stay tuned.
