OpenText Media Manager ("OTMM") is perhaps the premiere Enterprise DAM. Widely used in major film studios and corporate Marketing departments, OTMM has established a solid reputation in the DAM space.
Yet on its own, OTMM provides no direct connectivity to Adobe Creative Cloud applications. This is understandable, as Adobe InDesign does not readily link InDesign documents to assets stored in the Cloud: it only supports digital assets on the local file system or network. InDesign is too locally focused to see your assets on OpenText out of the box.
Silicon Connector fixes that, by linking InDesign to OpenText simply and automatically. Beyond URL-based links to OpenText assets from InDesign, Connector enables access to OpenText from directly within Photoshop and Illustrator.
Before Silicon Connector, Adobe InDesign users had to link assets to an InDesign document locally, but when sharing outside of the network, they had to package the entire project as well as all the assets, creating redundant copies. This resulted in mass duplication of assets, long file transfers and versioning issues, challenges that were only compounded when sharing projects with multiple remote resources such as consultants, design houses or agencies.
With Connector, these barriers to collaboration are removed: everyone on your InDesign team shares assets via OpenText. Update an asset in OpenText, and the updated content automatically references the latest versions.
After you've installed Silicon Connector for OTTM, when you load Adobe InDesign, you are prompted to log into your OpenText account through the in-app window. Once you've authenticated, you can drag assets from the OpenText navigator directly into your InDesign document. Simply by dragging a graphic or other asset from OpenText into your InDesign document, a direct and durable HTTP link is instantly created, a link that works for any user of your InDesign file, in any location around the world.
Silicon Connector for OTMM includes basic support of navigating, searching, and working with individual Photoshop and Illustrator assets.
