We’ve been friends with the folks from Em Software for a long time. Just as our Connector solves a common problem of linking assets to InDesign from a DAM or file sharing service, WordsFlow creates a dynamic link with magic-merge capabilities from a Microsoft Word or Excel document. We realized that when you combine the two solutions, you get a powerful collaborative editorial toolset that breaks the barriers between writers and designers. We are proud to work with the Em Software team to bring a combined solution to market.
Here’s a brief overview of the solution:
These are a few of my favorite things about the Silicon Connector for Box/WordsFlow bundle:
Word Online – Do you use Office 365? If so, you can edit your word documents using Word Online. This even supports multiple users editing in parallel just like GoogleDocs, but with the complete power of Microsoft Word.
Versioning – Need to roll back in time? Box.com automatically versions files so you can get back that version you accidentally overwrote.
All in One Place – With the latest version of Silicon Connector for Box, you can down upload your InDesign file directly to Box.com from the Connector panel. Store your InDesign file alongside all your other project assets.
Tables – Updating complex tables in InDesign is time-consuming especially when the source Excel file uses lots of formulas. Rather than check each cell one-by-one and manually update your beautifully formatted table in InDesign, you can link directly to the source ensuring that the data is always up to date and it looks good too.
If you’re still manually updating your InDesign files with copy changes after the page has been designed, you need this solution. You won’t believe the magic until you try. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
